'The Grape Debate' 4-part Online Course for ONE

'The Grape Debate' 4-part Online Course for ONE

An opportunity to taste and compare wine made from the same grape varieties, but in different countries. This course will teach you to nail the differences climate (and tradition) make and help you choose wine in shops and restaurants.

Before we buy any wine, we are forced to choose a country (so that we are standing in the right aisle). For many of us the simple way is to make a beeline for wines we already know we like, but if you are feeling more adventurous why not take the opportunity to join us and compare wines side by side to see for yourself the difference of climate and other influences.

It can be a matter of opinion which wines you prefer, but if you come with an open mind you could be surprised!

Each evening we'll focus on one specific grape variety and compare 3 wines made with it each from different countries. At the end you will be more confident to choose based on flavour differences you predict will be in the bottle and your mood.

Note - you need only consume a tasting sample of each wine opened during the session and you can follow our wine preservation tips to keep leftovers for another day.

Thorne Wines have put together a discounted 12-case for this course at an exclusive 15% discount with free delivery in sustainable recyclable packaging.

Simply book your space(s) below and soon afterwards we'll send a link for ordering the wines. Book as soon as possible to allow time for delivery. We will also send instructions for joining the Zoom calls from a desktop, laptop, tablet or mobile phone. Zoom is proving to be a very sociable medium for wine tasting so we can guarantee you'll have fun! Each session will last just over an hour.

Session dates:

  • Weds 22 July: Riesling
For those in the know, Riesling makes some of the best and most long-lived wines in the world. But will you prefer Alsace, Germany or Australian?
  • Weds 29 July: Pinot Noir
Pinot Noir can be smooth, elegant and expressive, but will you go for Burgundy, Chile or New Zealand?
  • Weds 5 Aug: Syrah
Made in France this grape can be so amazingly different from New World versions. Rhone valley, Australia or South Africa?
  • Weds 12 Aug: Chardonnay
Arguably the most variable grape of all, Chablis, South Africa or California?
