Saturday A TASTE OF ITALY
Come and enjoy a friendly, informal and fun wine journey through the wonderful world of Italian wine. Includes 2-course wine pairing lunch and a traditional method Italian sparking wine.
Discover what makes Italy one of the most fascinating wine producing nations in the world! Taste beautiful Barolos, velvety Valpolicella and charming Chianti’s amongst many others. We will explore regions such as Piedmont, Veneto, Tuscany, Umbria, Lazio, Lombardia, Puglia, Trentino, and Sicily - 5 hours dedicated to Italy enabling us to unravel the mysteries and delights of Italian wine.
From 2020 our Saturday courses will be held inside the beautiful and historic Chris's college, founded in 1437 and where Charles Darwin studied in Cambridge.
At this central Cambridge venue we'll enjoy tasting and learning about wine in a lovely wood-panelled room leading onto a Minstrel's gallery with a spectacular view overlooking the interior of the dining hall.
Plus watch and learn how to open a bottle of Champagne by 'Sabrage' (using a sabre)!
Halfway through the day we take a break from the hard work of wine tasting to enjoy a delicious wine pairing lunch followed by a mini tour of the college.

We will taste some of the myriad of indigenous grapes that make Italian wine so different and intriguing. Italy can be the most confusing wine country to get to know, with its enormous diversity of wine styles. It is, however, worth spending a little time to understand it and the discoveries repay the effort involved. We will wander through the north of the country, from the NW (Piedmont) to the NE (Veneto), through Tuscany and the Marches to the warm south (Puglia, Campania, & Sicily). You will experience first hand the amazing range of grape varieties and flavours that Italy has to offer and taste some classic Italian wines along with some from cutting-edge new-wave winemakers.
