EAT Cambridge: Weird and Wonderful Wines
What better way to celebrate National Wine Day than to taste a range of unusual and interesting wines? This is a fringe event part of the EAT Cambridge festival.
What's your favourite wine? Are you a Malbec fan or perhaps you just love Sauvignon Blanc? Do you always order Pinot Grigio or enjoy the blackcurranty fruit of a great Cabernet Sauvignon? The classic grape varieties are so familar to us that we are all guilty of sticking to the tried and trusted favourites.
Come down to Wine School for a night that will shake you out of your comfort zone! Tonight we forget about Chardonnay and Shiraz and lavish our attention instead on varieties such as Tannat, Xynomavro, Sylvaner and Pecorino. Orange wine anybody?
If you've ever wanted to truly explore the wonderful world of wine, this is the tasting for you! Come and spend a couple of hours tasting unusual grape varieties which are usually only familar to locals. According to wine experts there are between 8,000 and 10,000 different varieties of the species Vitis Vinifera which produces wine grapes. This means there is a huge amount of diversity and variety out there beyond the few varietals which we are all familiar with.
This promises to be a wacky tasting, you'll try some unusual wines and hopefully discover some new favourites along the way. So sign up for a sensational night of the weird and the wonderful of the wine world...
This wine tasting evening also makes a great gift voucher idea.
All tastings include; minimum of 6 wines sourced locally so you can find them easily if you like them, full tasting notes, tasting sheet and use of professional tasting glasses.
