English Wine Week - Giffords Hall
Celebrate English Wine for English Wine Week! Come sample a wide range of award-winning English wines made at nearby wine producer Giffords Hall and hear from owner and manager Linda Howard!
Linda runs the vineyards and winery at Giffords Hall near Bury St Edmunds (30 miles from Cambridge) along with her husband Guy. Their site is an ancient glacial riverbed where a mixture of sandy and clay soil, slopes, natural weather barriers and good vineyard husbandry combine to produce quality grapes for making sparkling wines and aromatic still wines.
The vineyard was planted around 25 years ago and the vines are now in their prime. Working with varieties such as Madeleine Angevine, Bacchus, Reichensteiner, Rondo, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir, the Howards have snapped up quite a few awards for their wines, including the Waitrose most outstanding rosé trophy and the National English Wine Trophy for their Bacchus.
On the menu to sample and learn about will likely be:
