WORLD OF WINE - Explore Australia and New Zealand
(Includes Cloudy Bay Tasting!).
A lot of people think of Australian wine as reliable, fruit-driven wines with lots of oak. This tasting will set the record straight. The world of Australian wine is far more complex as so is its climate. There are hot, warm, cool, dry and wet locations in Australia and they all make totally different wines. There are also a growing number of small boutique wineries where the winemakers concentrate on producing limited quantities of hand-made wines (in contrast to the mass-produced big brands) – these are the wines we will be tasting. and we'll hear about and sample wines made with a surprising Cambridge conection!
New Zealand is fast becoming the benchmark for New World Sauvignon Blanc (from Marlborough), but there is much more to these two islands than that. South Island also produces some wonderful Pinot Noir & stunning zesty Riesling, whilst the warmer climate of North Island is home to delicious Cabernet and Merlot and fuller, softer, riper, white wines.
Among other things, we will be tasting the latest vintage of Cloudy Bay to see what all the fuss is about (and comparing with cheaper Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc).
This evening can be booked on its own or as part of our core 8-week course - book all 8 evenings and GET ONE NIGHT FREE! The 8-week course is flexible, so if you have to skip an evening you can pick it up next time.
All tastings include; minimum of 6 wines sourced locally so you can find them easily if you like them, full tasting notes, tasting sheet and use of professional tasting glasses.
