ITALY: Barolo, Barbaresco, Barbera and more
Tonight we focus on North and North West Italy, featuring the regions Piedmont, Trentino and Alto Adige. We will be tasting delicious wines including Barolo, Barbera, Dolcetto and Gavi.
An overwhelming majority of Piedmont's wines derives from native vines. Besides the noble Nebbiolo, source of Barolo and Barbaresco, Barbera ranks as a popular vine for reds, followed by Dolcetto, which is enjoyed for its mellow, round flavors. An established star is Gavi, a dry white made from the native Cortese grape.
Turning attention to Trentino and Alto Adige, the Alpine regions of the North, new developments have included careful research matching grape varieties to suitable climates and some exciting new wines are the result.
Come and taste some old favourites and discover some new ones, in this fascinating evening and discover why Italy is rated the most diverse wine producing country.
